I have to tell you, spending time with my parents has got to be at the top of my list of favorite things to do. Isn't it funny that as an adolescent, you want absolutely nothing to do with your parents? You pine for the day when you can move away from home and get away from dear ol' mom 'n' pop. Well this is a prime example of reason #2,897,943 that life is different now as a 23-year-old... I cherish the time I get to spend with my parents almost more than any other time. (Except maybe for sleeping in on Saturday mornings... jk)
My mom and I got to spend all Friday afternoon and night together. I picked her up on the Plaza in Kansas City and we came back to Lawrence to hang out, go to an awesome dinner and watch movies. It was a ball! Anthony joined us, too... it was the perfect "girls night"... hehe
My dad had a high school reunion-esque gathering Friday night, so he joined us in Lawrence on Saturday morning. We ran a couple of errands and then had an awesome lunch at Esquina, a new restaurant on Mass Street. We sat outside and had great food and lots of fun conversation. It is also a nice perk that parents pay for your meals when they are in town :)
All through college, I enjoyed when my parents would visit or when I had opportunities to go home, but there is something about life now that makes our times together even more special.
I can't wait to have kids of my own someday... maybe we can just fast forward to when they are in their early twenties, too.
