The latest Twilight movie, Eclipse, was released last night and it was pretty awesome. Definitely my favorite of the movies so far. I have said it time and again, the Twilight movies are not GOOD movies, but they are entertaining, have an attractive cast, and bring to life the books that (for some reason) I became obsessed with.
I know I am 23 years old, but I am not alone in this obsession! In Lawrence alone, the line was straight up ridic... throughout the theater lobby, out the doors, into the parking lot and around the building. And Lawrence is a small town! They even had a TV news crew there to capture the event... and by "capture the event" I mean incriminate lame ass 23-year-olds who stand amongst throngs of tweens on a Tuesday night to get into the midnight showing of a movie made for losers. (At least I can admit that I am a dork, right? And proud of it!)
I've been hearing that the movie's release has been breaking records left and right, and to that I say "good for you, Twilight!"... I mean, where would children today be without these false representations of reality and unattainable expectations of what love is? Sigh.
All I know is that when my future children become tweens, they are welcome to become obsessed with whatever pop culture phenomenon that tickles their fancy. And when they become college grads that are still finding these things so enthralling, I will make fun of them mercilessly.
i heard on the radio last weekend an entire segment about people who got divorced because of twilight. as in, women ended their marriages because they weren't obsessed with their husbands like bella is with edward. how depressing/weird is that??
