Legends of the Fall

I find it ironic that my previous post was titled "My Forehead is Peeling and Other Adventures" because I must say that a peeling forehead beats a gash in the back of the head any day.

Ouch.

So I spent a couple of hours in the ER last night... got a CT scan and 2 staples to the head. It was not exactly my favorite way to spend a Saturday night, but then again, things could have been a lot worse.

'What happened?!' you ask? I fell. Down some stairs. Backwards. I actually have no recognition of the incident, all I remember (maybe?) is a dog coming towards me. I think I got startled, and as I have been told, I fell backwards down a flight of stairs and hit the wall at the bottom and was rendered unconscious. When I came to, my head was bleeding and the next thing I remember is sitting in the shower with red water streaming down out of my hair. This is what was retold to me, anyway. After locating the site of the cut in my head and trying to clean it as best as possible with water and alcohol, we decided that it would be best to go to the hospital just to make sure everything was ok.

I want to take this opportunity to extend a very gracious THANK YOU to my amazing boyfriend Anthony (I love you SO MUCH) and my fabulous roommate Kristen. They took care of me last night and were the ones who insisted on getting my head checked out. We were all relieved that the CT scan went ok and there were no signs of concussion. I was NOT pleased to get numerous shots injected into the back of my head and the stabbing pain of the staples... but I guess it's better safe than sorry. I also want to give honorable mention to Jordan and Hannah, who were there when it happened and helped out also. How blessed I am to have such amazing friends!

Unfortunately, I think I will have a bit of a headache for a while. Other than the actual site of the injury, I don't really have much other pain, just a lot of stiffness. My left hand is bruised and my left bum is pretty sore, but I am just the luckiest girl in the world that nothing worse happened.

Here is a photo of me in the ER rocking a fierce neck brace and pseudo smurf hat fashioned out of T-shirt sleeves to stop the bleeding. Lady Gaga, eat your heart out.
