The Lou

I'm back in St. Louis! Hip hip hooray!

It seems like I haven't missed a beat! Everything feels pretty much the same as when I left.
My first order of business was to play with Hef! I missed the little guy. He was looking a little pudgy (you would too if your grandpa was Dean "Carrot ATM" Wolfe) but still adorable. I was holding him and giving him a treat when he climbed onto my back. I was afraid he would go all Bunnicula on me, so I had to get him back to his cage. I showered (aka dismantled my freshly cleaned room-- thanks mom and/or shiela) and got all settled in to being home.

I always enjoy coming home. If you have ever been to my house, you will know that almost every single square inch of floor is carpeted. I. Love. It. If I had it my way, I would be barefoot all day, every day. Unfortunately, that is not possible. I have also trained myself to always wear shoes at my house at school because the floors have a tendancy to get icky... hmmm.... so coming home to a pristinely clean house is always a treat. My mom works really hard to keep it looking good, so she deserves a little shoutout.
I wish I could say the same for my room. It takes literally minutes to trash it. I have been here just shy of 24 hours and already my bedroom floor is littered with random clothing articles and other miscellaneous objects. I guess this does not make me unique, I have rarely seen a perfectly in-place bedroom. Except for my parents'. hehe.

Aside from waking up this morning and having absolutely no idea where I was, it's been great! I got to go out with my friends last night to one of our favorite places and catch up on all kinds of updates in the Clayton Bubble Network. Delicious.

My best friend Courtney is moving to New York City in a couple of weeks to move in with another of our BFFs Steph (into a badass apartment, no less), so I am especially excited about spending time with her while she is still around. Ady is also living/working in the City along with many other Claytonites. I believe this is all part of what I refer to (in my mind) as the New York Effect. I will go into it more in the future, but it is essentially the theory that NYC has some sort of magnet or vaccuum that is sucking in all of my best friends. Leslie... it's only a matter of time for you...

No matter who is around, STL will always seem exciting to me. Even though friends are fleeing the Midwest like there is some kind of Swine Flu outbreak or something (irony!), I will always know it is home and that we will end up back here sometime. Whether it's the holidays or random weekends in the year where we can somehow NEVER all be in the same place at once, there's always something to look forward to!
