Falling off the wagon

What a weekend!

Mardi Gras was a blast... the parade was pretty standard, but who doesn't love a parade!? My bead snatching antics served as my workout that day, along with the pushing through drunk crowds and dodging vomiting drunks at the Jack in the Box.

Maybe I was a little naughty when it came to my diet. I indulged a little more than I should have at times, but I think it could've been worse... maybe... I guess it's a red flag when your lunch consists of a 32 oz. bloody mary. Only on Mardi Gras weekend!
The rest of the weekend was not too bad in the health department, with the exception of Valentine's Day sweets that I believe do not count because calories don't count on holidays. (I wish I actually believed that). If you're keeping score, that pretty much leaves me with Friday as my "good" day and I am stickin to it!

Speaking of Valentine's Day, it was incredible! We started the day with a special V-Day breakfast cooked by my mom (think heart shaped pancakes and lots of fruit! mmmm!). We had to leave St. Louis around noon, but luckily we got to stop by the Knipp's for a bit in the afternoon to visit with them. It was so good to see them and catch up.
And the grand finale was that Anthony and I had a fantastic date night! After just barely getting back to Lawrence in time for our dinner, we were able to sit back, relax, and enjoy each other's company. We ate at one of the newer restaurants in town, 715, and it was just perfect. If I didn't thank you enough, Ant... thank you for a great night! And thank you Tammi and Tiffani for the delicious Valentine's desserts :) yummy.

I am afraid that my worst mistake over the weekend (no, not the jumbo bloody mary) was that I didn't work out since Thursday. I used to always take weekends off from the gym because that is the workout schedule that I have been accustomed to since high school from an athletics schedule. But in the past month of my new fit way-of-life launch party, I have been making a strong effort to work out at least once in a weekend to keep my muscles guessing. So I pretty much dropped the ball on that this weekend. I did get to work out for a long time today, though, and it felt pretty great.

My only complaint from the weekend is that there was definitely not enough time. I think we did a good job with what we had, but I could have used another day or so to simply enjoy being at home in St. Louis, and then we could have spent more time at Ant's parents' house in KC. Maybe next time!

One more week in winterville USA and then I am off to (fingers crossed) warmer pastures! Florida countdown: 6 days! Woop woop!
